This morning I got a great tour of the residences at the W-Hotel in Austin. It turns out that it was a grey, rainy day, but that didn’t influence the tour at all.
I’ve written all about the residences at the W Hotel in Austin before, but that was all based off a phone call and sales information. This was an actual hands on tour.
It started at the private residence entrance off 2nd st. That’s where the experience begins. Greeting me was the 24-hour concierge, a private doorman who can help residents with whatever you need.
I got to see two great apartments – a 3000 sq/ft beauty, and a smaller 640 sq/ft 1-bedroom. Both are beautifully designed and styled, with great hardwood floors, marble bathrooms, modern kitchens, and all the luxury touches you could want. There are even spaces inside for washer and dryers.
Here are some iPhone pics I snapped as we went through. I also tweeted the tour (as I do for all the previews I attend.
Let’s start with the key you will get if you buy a place at the W-Hotel. You don’t really get a key, instead you get a special key fob that lets you into your ultra cool place. This key fob also gets you access to tons of other features, as you will discover by reading more. One thing I should mention right now is if you live at the W-Hotel in Austin, you get the opportunity to purchase tickets for ACL and the Moody theater before the general public.
Let’s start our tour with a spectacular view of Austin from the Master Suite. The floor to ceiling windows are just incredible. Remember, it was raining and overcast as I toured, but most days are bright and sunny, and that weather will just make the view even better. There’s plenty of room for a big bed, and you will just have to schedule a tour with me to see them.
Also, there are over a dozen different floor-plans and layouts, so you can choose if you want your views of downtown to the north, or of town lake to the south, or some combination in-between.
Here’s an alternate view, one from the guest bedroom. This would also make a killer office, or a kid’s bedroom. I tend to think of this as a guest room, because if you bought this place, and I was your friend, I’d be sleeping here every night. 🙂
The home office space (or 3rd bedroom) has a great view of the Frost Bank tower. I’d reposition the desk so my view was of the skyscraper, and that would be the perfect position to blog about real estate, chat on the phone about a new listing, or fill out offers and contracts.
Yes, a lot of the spaces have a great view of the Capitol. This pic is a little bit sub-par because it was taken with my old iPhone, and the weather was a bit overcast. FYI – this is the view from the kitchen in the smaller 1-bedroom apartment. For more pics of the kitchen just scroll down a little bit.
The kitchen is styled in a super clean, modern look with high-end dark wood cabinets, real marble countertops, high power gas stoves, and Meile appliances included. I can imagine a great Austin style date night where you head over to Whole Foods and get a bunch of their ready-made deli food, pick up some nice candles, and then set it all out on the wide countertops to enjoy together.
Or if you prefer to cook, you can make a beautiful dinner to share with your sweetie, while you watch the world pass by below.
Or if you are like me, you can just head down to one of the many restaurants within walking distance, and fill your fridge with leftovers. Yum!
Living at the W in Austin isn’t just about being indoors. Residents have 24-7 access to a Private pool lounge area, and a bunch of other super cool amenities. That’s right, there is pool for hotel guests, and a separate private pool for residents. Of course residents have access to both pools, but it doesn’t work the other way around.
Can’t you just imagine taking the kids or grandkids down, just lounging on the chaises, and having a drink by the pool. Or getting up just a little bit early to knock out a couple dozen laps before work. Or bringing a date home, and just happening to walk by the pool all lit up at night on your way up to your pad.
Here’s the “other” pool, the one that the hotel guests get to use – let me just tell you that this one can get crowded in the summer. Just behind a secret door is your private oasis.
The last thing I want to share with you is the gym and fitness center. There is cardio equipment, weight equipment, and a great room for yoga, aerobics, or other training class. All this, and even more is yours when you move into the W.
If you are interested in moving into the Residences at the W-Hotel, please send me a note or call me, and I’ll set up a special showing with some extra perks thrown in.
