Right across the road from the Fairways, and the Barton Creek Country Club is the private gated condo section called Governor’s Hill in Barton Creek. This is one of the more affordable sections of Barton Creek, but owners don’t sacrifice much. They still have the great views, and because this is is a condo community many of the things a homeowner would have to pay for are covered in the HOA fees.
Living in the Governors Hill neighborhood
There are almost 20 different gated and open sections of Barton Creek. Each has between 20-50 homes, so how do you know which one you should pick?
Let me first say that each is absolutely stunning. It would be like walking into a candy store, and looking for the best piece of chocolate. They are ALL good.
These are 4 bedroom (plus or minus) homes of approximately 3,000 – 4,000 square feet in a condo community (so landscaping is paid for), and prices are just under a million dollars (which is a great deal for this part of town). Most of the homes were built in 1999 or 2000, and when you find one come on the market you can sometimes get a deal if it hasn’t been updated.
Schools that go to Governor’s Hill
There are some great public schools that the kids of Governors Hill can attend – Austin High School, O Henry Middle, and Oak Hill Elementary. But there are also some very incredible private schools just down the road, too. St Stephen’s Academy, St. Michael’s Academy, and Regents are very close, and only 20 minutes away is the University of Texas and St. Edward’s University.
