Construction has started for 70 Rainey St. The latest high-rise condo to enhance the downtown Austin Skyline.
Rainey Street is unique. A new development region that used to be run down houses near downtown and I-35. In the early 2000’s the city changed some zoning laws, and a few upscale bars were built, and since then, developers have been jockeying for control of the land.
This particular development is being headed by Sackman Enterprises, and when the project is complete in 2018, 164 units are planned in a 35 story tower.
Over 450 parking places for residents are also planned.
- One bedroom condos from 663 to 837 square feet
- Two Bedroom condos from 1,128 to 1,743 square feet (with or without a Den/Office)
- Three Bedroom condos 2,179 to 2,851 square feet
- 4 Penthouse Suites remain 3,447 to 3,862 square feet
Even though the project is in the early phases, some of the features I’m looking forward to are the On site Bar and Restaurant, a complete Fitness Center so residents can cancel their Gym memberships, a Private Dining Room, and a Business Center with Conference Rooms.
The highligh will be a nearly 20,000 square foot deck on the 10th floor. Over 100 feet in the air, and with an infiniti lap pool, this is going to be something quite spectacular. Based on the buildings footprint and location, this pool deck is bound to have similar views to the Shore Condos. To the West will be Lady Bird Johnston lake and the Congress Ave Bridge, to the South will be more views of the water and on the East, you should have great views as well.
70-Rainey used to be the site of the food truck court, but they have been re-located to a new lot just a couple of houses up the street.
I personally like what is happening to the area, and look forward to watching this development enhance Rainey Street.
